Attendance is a key factor in the success of your student and their academic performance.  Studies have shown that only 17% students who are chronically absent in kindergarten and first grade are reading proficiently by third grade.  In the middle school years, chronic absenteeism is a red flag that a student may eventually drop out.  Students with better attendance not only more proficient in math and English, but they also have stronger social-emotional skills.  To put it bluntly, attendance is a big deal.

In Alpine County, a STEP program is used to assist  students and families struggling with attendance.
